Missouri's Senior Employment Program
How does the program work?
Enrollees are placed in non-profit or public
service-type agency positions for 20 hours per week. They receive on-the-job
training and experience. During their training, enrollees work with the
local Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) director and staff to
achieve permanent part-time or full-time unsubsidized employment either at
their host agency or with other employment sources in their area.
What is the purpose of the program?
-
To provide enrollees with meaningful
part-time training experience in community services; and
-
To provide opportunities in obtaining
meaningful, unsubsidized employment in the private industry or the public
sector.
What are the program goals?
The program's overall goal is to assist enrollees
in obtaining gainful employment. In addition, enrollees benefit from:

Development of new skills and talents toward
alternative career opportunities;

Enhancement of work experience through
exposure to various jobs during enrollment; and
-
Help with locating permanent full or
part-time employment.
Who is Eligible?
Individuals age 55 or older, who meet low-income
guidelines. Your local Area Agency on Aging can help determine if you are
eligible.
What type of benefits do enrollees receive?

Opportunity to establish a current work history;
Assistance in developing job search skills and locating a
permanent job;
